Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Quilt Designed and Copyright by Susan Plack 1996

The Pigeon Point Lighthouse is located 50 miles south of San Francisco and 26 miles north of Santa Cruz, on the coast of California. The light was lit on November 15, 1872, over 14 months after the original fog signal was installed and operational. The light tower is one of two towers who share the distinction of being the tallest in California. In 2000 a plan was put in place to build a bed and breakfast on the site of the lighthouse. The Peninsula Open Space Trust bought out the B&B and tore it down so that the light would remain in it's natural state.
